Tall stems become covered in masses of stunning mid-blue flowers ideal for cutting and adding height to border displays. Loved by bees and butterflies. WHEN TO SOW April and May WHERE TO SOW Outdoors sow seeds where they are required to flower in shallow drills in rows 30cm (12") apart in well cultivated soil which has been raked to a fine crumbly texture. WHAT TO DO NEXT Thin out seedlings when large enough to handle to 15-30cm (6-12") apart. Seeds can also be sown undercover in pots or trays filled with seed compost and lightly covered with sieved compost or vermiculite. Place at a temperature of 18-25°C (65-75°F). Once hardened off they can be planted out after all risk of frost has passed. Flowers July onwards HANDY TIP Plant in borders where they will get a gentle breeze. This will allow the tall stems to add some movement to your garden.
