Very popular version of the Sabre mix that includes the Red Clover Blend for 3 years of outstanding yields.
Seed Rate 12 to 14kg/acre
- Enhances yield, protein and mineral levels
- Aids drought tolerance and soil aeration
- The Clover plants fix nitrogen to fertilise companion grasses and subsequent crops
- Trials show a yield advantage of 1 tonne of DM/ha in the second harvest year compared to no Clover version Red Clover mixtures for higher protein and reduced nitrogen input
- The advantages of Red Clover are not always realised but in summary, offer three times the yield of a large leaved White Clover.
- This yield comes at a cost however, as the species is not as persistent as White Clover and is therefore best used in 2-4 year leys.
- A long, penetrating tap root allows Red Clover to withstand drought and be suited to lighter soils
