Salad Leaf Mizuna
Mizuna are attractive dark green leaves on long white stems. You can use them uncooked in salads or add to a stir-fry. It has a bitter peppery sort of taste to it.
Grow your own tasty colourful salad leaves which are packed full of nutrients. There is nothing quite as special and rewarding as going out to your own garden and selecting home grown produce to use in your meals.
The interest in what we have classed liberally as "Oriental Vegetables" increases every year. They can be used raw in salads, or lightly cooked for use in stir frys and numerous Chinese style meals.

WHEN TO SOW All year round
WHERE TO SOW Sow thinly in a prepared seed bed 0.5cm (1/4in) deep in rows 25-30cm (10-12in) apart. Keep soil moist . Sow seed in succession every 2-3 weeks for a continuous supply of fresh young leaves.
WHAT TO DO NEXT Cut leaves from each plant leaving some leaves on each so they re-grow. You will often get 3-4 cuttings per plant. MATURITY All year round
HANDY TIP Early autumn and winter sowings can be made in containers in a cold greenhouse. Or if short of space during the year, sow seeds thinly into containers on a sunny patio.
