As good as any hybrid variety at a fraction of the price but equal in quality. Round smooth red roots with an intense inner colour and no white rings. Very sweet flavour, perfect as a baby or mature beets.
WHEN TO SOW March to July
WHERE TO SOW Sow thinly in shallow drills 1.5cm (1/2") deep with 30cm (12") between rows.
WHAT TO DO NEXT Thin the seedlings gradually as they grow to an eventual spacing of 10cm (4"). Do not transplant. Only needs watering when there is a drought. Lift carefully and leave about 5cm (2") of stalk to prevent bleeding when cooking.
HARVEST June to October
NUTRITIONAL VALUES Beetroot is rich in beta carotene and folic acid. HANDY TIP The roots hold for a good period before going woody. Ideal pulled and stored for winter use .
