Future for Ashburton Country Store

2022 has seen Tuckers return to Ashburton where we have reopened our Country Store on Chuley Road as well as submitting a revised planning application for a new store on the outskirts of the town.

Tuckers are a local independent business that have operated in Ashburton since the early 1800’s and our plan to re-locate to a larger, purpose built store at Peartree Cross will secure the future of the business within the town for many years to come.

Our application for a new commercial development is currently live on the Dartmoor National Park planning portal and we hope for a speedy decision as the land is already earmarked for commercial use and has the existing approval in place for a Tucker’s store following our successful planning application in 2017. This new plan is for a more compact store and also includes provision for another agricultural business to relocate here with us. 

Much like our current store it will provide the following services:

  • Farm & Horse Feed
  • Country Clothing and work wear
  • Equestrian equipment and accessories
  • Seeds
  • Hardware and timber materials
  • Garden products
  • Locally sourced products

As well as this we will be able to provide space for a produce market, EV fast charging points, access to green spaces and an overall enhancement to the biodiversity of the plot.
